Welcome to the web site for the United States Highway (US) 98 design project. The project limits are from East Edgewood Drive to East Main Street in Polk County. FDOT is preparing design plans to improve the existing four-lane rural and urban roadway.  The proposed improvements will consist of four areas for operational and safety improvements, sidewalk addition along the west side of US 98, revisions to median openings, construction of offsite ponds, milling and resurfacing of the roadway throughout the project limits, and modifying driveways. The proposed improvements also include street lighting, traffic signals, landscaping, drainage upgrades, and pavement markings.

US 98 is a major highway connecting the communities of Lakeland and Bartow as well as the principal arterial for southeast Lakeland.  The improvements will reduce traffic enhance safety, congestion and minimize travel delay along the roadway. The project limits are identified on the project location map.
